Dharma Clement, Scott Porter and Oskar Kantoft scored Tuesday to give Cal Lutheran a 3-0 men’s soccer victory over The Masters’ at Cal Lutheran.

Cal Lutheran (4-2) was 0-7-1 in the previous eight matches in what has become a spirited local rivalry. The Kingsmen’s last victory over the Mustangs (5-6) came in 1986.

Clement scored in the 28th minute on the rebound of Kantoft’s shot and Porter got his goal in the 32nd minute on a pass from Edwin Astudillo to give Cal Lutheran a 2-0 halftime lead.

Kantoft scored in the 63rd minute.

“We were out of it mentally, even before the game,” Master’s Coach Jim Rickard said. “We didn’t have a good practice [Monday] and even after they scored, we acted like we didn’t care.”

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Ventura 1, Santa Barbara 1--The Pirates held a 43-3 advantage in shots but Vaquero goalkeeper Alison Merrick made 29 saves in a Western State Conference match at Ventura.

Ventura, defending conference champion, surrendered a goal to Jennifer Fukutomi in the 29th minute. The Pirates (10-2-1, 3-0-1 in conference play) got the equalizer from Alicia Morosic four minutes into the second half.

Barbara Almaraz assisted on Morosic’s goal. A former Buena High star and a member of The Times’ 1996-97 all-region team, Almaraz tied Ventura’s season assist record with eight and took 11 shots in the match.

“Off the crossbar, off the posts, along the goal line. It just wouldn’t go in,” Ventura Coach Steve Hoffman said.

Santa Barbara has made a habit of such desperate stands. Earlier this month the Vaqueros (3-1-1, 3-1-1) beat Cuesta, last year’s conference runner-up, 1-0. Santa Barbara was outshot, 29-2, in that match and scored with less than a minute remaining.

Goals by Tackett and Cooney gave Moorpark a 2-0 halftime lead.

Stacey Williams made three saves for the Raiders.

Cal Lutheran d. Redlands, 15-8, 15-6, 15-1--Marianne Moll had nine kills and Lauren McCartin added eight for the Regals (1-4, 1-0) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Cal Lutheran.

It was the 26th consecutive conference victory for Cal Lutheran, which tied the record set by La Verne from 1987-90.
