PREP FOOTBALL GAMES AT A GLANCE
No. 1 Mater Dei (3-0) vs. Irvine (2-1)
7:30 P.M. FRIDAY
IRVINE HIGH
Irvine embraces a tough schedule but hates going into this game undermanned. And without running back Al Williams (knee), it’s undermanned. Williams rushed 32 times for 262 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-29 victory over University, then sat out a 17-0 loss to Servite and 17-14 victory over Anaheim. Irvine’s problem? Mater Dei is no Servite, much less University or Anaheim. The top-ranked Monarchs have outscored opponents, 119-7. And Coach Bruce Rollinson’s offense has something to prove after he expressed dissatisfaction in last week’s 24-0 victory over Hawthorne.
