Santa Ana Girl Run Over, Killed by Ice-Cream Truck
A 14-month-old Santa Ana girl died after she was accidentally run over by an ice-cream truck Thursday afternoon, Santa Ana police reported.
Just before 1 p.m., Patricia Gonzalez slipped away unnoticed from her home in the 4400 block of West Tampion Avenue, police said.
An ice-cream vendor finished selling items from his truck and began to pull away when he felt a bump under the truck’s right-rear wheel, police said. He found Patricia lying on her back in the street, police said. She was not one of the children the driver sold to, and he never saw her until after the accident, police said.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.
No charges were filed. The crash remains under investigation.
