Pair Advances at Hardcourt Championships
Beverly Winans of Newport Beach and La Jolla’s Liz Harper advanced to today’s finals of the 65 doubles division of the U.S. Tennis Association National Senior Women’s Hardcourt Championships at Newport Beach Tennis Club.
Winans and Harper defeated Nancy Hambleton (Annapolis, Md.) and Pat Wiedenmann (Kansas City, Mo.), 6-0, 6-1, Thursday.
The top-seeded Winans and Harper will face Margaret Anderson (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Marian Petersen (Blue Springs, Mo.).
Laguna Hills’ Muriel Bard plays top-seeded Eleanor Harbula of Sylmar today in the semifinals of 75 singles division.
Doris Clark of Laguna Beach plays top-seeded Mary Boswell of Damascus, Md., in the semifinals of the 65 singles division.
