Vaughan Commits to Notre Dame

Corona del Mar’s Nina Vaughan, a three-time Times all-county selection in girls’ tennis, has orally committed to Notre Dame, according to her mother, Debra Russell.

Vaughan took a recruiting visit to Notre Dame two weeks ago. When she was offered a full scholarship this week by the Notre Dame women’s tennis coach, she canceled trips to Vanderbilt, Kansas and William & Mary.

“She flew in there not expecting to fall in love the way she did,” Russell said. “She loved the team and the coach. She just was totally blown away by the place.”

Vaughan is expected to major in broadcasting.
