A Santa Monica police officer who allegedly shot a colleague during an argument was arrested Friday for investigation of attempted murder of a police officer, authorities said.

Linda Brown, 36, shot Kevin Cummings, 33, four times in the upper body with a handgun during an argument Wednesday night at her Ladera Heights home, said sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Cross.

Cummings, also a Santa Monica officer, drove to an Inglewood hospital, where he was in serious condition Friday, Cross said.

Cummings told police Friday morning who shot him and where the incident occurred, Cross said.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting, which was in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.
