Royal Tops Agoura, 5-3, for Tournament Title

Royal High won the San Luis Obispo water polo tournament for the second time in three years, defeating Agoura, 5-3, in the championship game Saturday at San Luis Obispo High.
David Radka had two goals in the final and had three in an 11-5 victory over San Luis Obispo earlier in the day. Goalie Garrett Herzer held Agoura scoreless for three quarters in the final and finished with 12 saves.
The last two winners of the San Luis Obispo tournament, Royal in 1995 and Cabrillo in 1996, have gone on to win the Southern Section Division IV championship.
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Channel Islands Invitational--Junior Amanda Armstrong and freshman Kelley Hess of Thousand Oaks placed first and second, but Simi Valley won the team title in the meet at College Park in Oxnard.
Armstrong clocked 18:51 over the three-mile course after being slowed by a sprained ankle for the past two weeks.
Hess timed 18:55 to defeat Highland sophomore Rachel Guerrero by four seconds, but Thousand Oaks was hurt by the absence of senior Erin Sorensen, who missed the meet to take the Scholastic Assessment Test.
Toia Brown placed eighth in 19:17 for Simi Valley, which won with 119 points. Buena was second with 149 followed by Hart with 162 and Thousand Oaks with 165.
