After four months as interim city manager, Michael J. Egan has been given the job.

Egan, 39, an eight-year city employee, was selected on a 3-2 vote Friday after the City Council interviewed Egan and four other candidates. Mayor Pro Tem Art Oliver and Councilman Joe Cvetko opposed the appointment.

Egan, who previously served as assistant city administrator and public services director, said the primary issue facing the city is developing an economic strategy for the future.

As city manager, he will oversee a $25-million budget and 65 full-time employees serving a population of 65,000.
