Packers Trade Simmons to Chiefs

Green Bay traded linebacker Wayne Simmons to the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday for a sixth-round draft pick so Seth Joyner can get more playing time. To make room for Simmons, the Chiefs cut wide receiver Brett Perriman. . . . The Packers said nose tackle Gilbert Brown could play Sunday against the Chicago Bears despite a strained kneecap that’s still bothering him, but Coach Mike Holmgren is leaning toward not using the 350-pounder. . . . Detroit Lion safety Mark Carrier was fined $7,500 by the NFL for hitting Green Bay receiver Robert Brooks with the crown of his helmet in a game Sept. 28.

The Dallas Cowboys’ defensive line, already undermanned with Leon Lett suspended, took another blow when Chad Hennings was told his groin injury will keep him out up to eight weeks.
