Ventura Puts Valley Under in 10-4 Water Polo Victory

Chris Parrish and David Ford each scored three goals, and Ventura College defeated Valley, 10-4, in a Western State Conference men’s water polo game Wednesday at Ventura College.

Parrish, third in the state in scoring with 66 points, notched two goals in the first quarter and one in the fourth for the Pirates (18-4, 4-0 in the conference), who are ranked fourth in the state.

Ventura’s Curtis Tolmie made 14 saves and ranks first in the state with 217 saves this season.

The Pirates made 15 steals.

John Conrad scored twice and Brian Ellis and Mike Scarcelli each had a goal for Valley (13-9, 2-2).

MEN’S SOCCER

Cal Lutheran 2, Pomona-Pitzer 0--Oscar Kantoft scored twice in a three-minute span of the first half of a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Cal Lutheran.

Guillermo Alvarado had four saves for the Kingsmen (7-2-1, 2-0).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UC Irvine 1, Pepperdine 0--Nicole Bucciarelli scored for the Anteaters (9-5) after an errant clearing pass by the Waves in the 29th minute at Pepperdine (3-8).

Chapman 3, The Master’s 2--Elizabeth Longbothan and Tiffany Borman scored for the Mustangs (5-6) at The Master’s.

Cal Lutheran 3, Pomona-Pitzer 1--Kim Holeman, Liz Christensen and Chayna Manning scored for the Regals (8-3, 6-0) in a SCIAC match at Pomona-Pitzer.

CS Fullerton 2, CS Northridge 1--The Matadors got a first-half goal by Riya Gough but allowed second-half goals to Shawna Panter and Dobres Browning at Northridge.
