Agassi Provides Some Serious Lip Service

Share

At a fund-raiser Saturday for at-risk children in Las Vegas, comedian Jay Leno offered $5,000 if Andre Agassi and his wife, actress Brooke Shields, would duplicate their April wedding kiss.

“I’ll make it 10 if I can do it,” Leno quipped.

But Agassi dipped his wife and planted a long kiss on her lips while Leno and the crowd cheered.

Leno will have to dream on.

And finally: When Houston Astro Manager Larry Dierker was 18, he faced the Dodgers for the first time and struck out Frank Howard on three pitches. A veteran pitcher, Hal Woodeshick, asked, “Who told you how to pitch him like that?’ Dierker replied: “My brother.” “Your brother? Does he play ball?” Woodeshick asked.

“Yeah,” Dierker said. “In the Pony League. He’s 14 and he listens to all the Dodger games on the radio. He told me I could get Howard out with a breaking ball, low and away.”
