Angel center fielder Jim Edmonds is scheduled for arthroscopic surgery next week on both knees.
The surgery, to be performed by Lewis Yocum, was originally scheduled this week at Centinela Hospital Medical Center, but was moved to an Orange County hospital, closer to Edmonds’ home.
Edmonds will undergo six to eight weeks of rehabilitation.
Pitcher Mark Gubicza and infielder Randy Velarde were activated from the 60-day disabled list and added to the 40-man roster. The Angels also said infielder Craig Grebeck and left-handed pitcher Greg Cadaret had cleared waivers and chosen free agency. Grebeck, 32, hit .270 in 63 games last season. Cadaret, 35, was 0-0 with a 3.29 earned-run average in 15 appearances.
