Valencia, White Down Quartz Hill

Valencia High’s Manuel White came through with another impressive performance, rushing for 234 yards and two touchdowns in 27 carries Saturday in a 21-7 nonleague victory over Quartz Hill at Canyon High.

White, who has rushed for 923 yards and seven touchdowns in 106 carries, scored on runs of 32 and 47 yards in the first quarter and finished with 255 of his team’s total yards.

White rushed for 69 yards on a 76-yard, six-play scoring drive that he capped with his 32-yard scoring run with 7:38 to play in the first quarter.

He also rushed for 31 yards on Valencia’s second possession, a 46-yard, six-play march that culminated with quarterback Brian Hamilton’s 22-yard touchdown carry.

Quartz Hill (3-2) scored on a four-yard run by Jermaine Reyes with 48 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Valencia (4-1) scored its final points on White’s 47-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.
