Jones, who averages 155 yards, needs 118 to break former Valencia back Ray Pallares’ career-rushing record of 5,397 yards. Pallares has been invited to the game. “The record is certainly not a burden,” Coach Steve Bresnahan said. “As Michael would say, it’s shared by everybody in our program. But if the focus becomes something other than winning the game, Mike gets upset about it.” If Jones sets the record, the game will be stopped for a brief ceremony.
