Ramsey Inquiry Leads to Oceanside

Share

Investigators in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey asked police in suburban Oceanside for information about a man arrested 32 years ago on a sex charge, but they were unable to find any records about him.

Oceanside Police Sgt. Tom Bussey said that investigators from Boulder, Colo., were seeking information about a man who was arrested in Oceanside in 1965 on a misdemeanor indecent exposure charge. But the department does not keep records back that far, particularly on misdemeanor cases, Bussey said.

“We have absolutely no information on this man,” Bussey said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was reportedly living in Boulder, Colo., but left soon after the 6-year-old beauty queen was found strangled in her home Dec. 26.

Suzanne Laurion, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office in Boulder, said that the inquiry was routine and that the man was not considered a suspect. Police have contacted dozens of sex offenders registered in Boulder.
