Glendale Loses to Pasadena Despite Company’s Big Night

Junior tailback Luis Company rushed for 124 yards in 28 carries in Glendale High’s 21-7 loss Thursday night to visiting Pasadena in a Pacific League opener.

It marked the first time a Glendale player has rushed for more than 100 yards this season.

The Dynamiters’ passing game was nowhere to be found.

Quarterbacks Carlos Gutierrez and Shant Melkonian combined to complete three of 11 passes for 43 yards.

Glendale’s ground game was sharp from the start. The Dynamiters (2-3 overall) drove 65 yards in 10 plays on the opening possession, scoring on Rami Burpee’s 11-yard run.

After Pasadena (3-3) tied the game on a 33-yard run by Corandole Daniels late in the first half, the Bulldogs went ahead for good on an eight-yard run by David Cannon early in the third quarter.

Pasadena did not complete a pass, but wore down the Dynamiters with 230 yards rushing.

Tywan Gholar rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown in nine carries for the Bulldogs.

Glendale’s Max Maxwell and Angelo Walker each had an interception.
