Fitch Keeping His Cool

Coach Bill Fitch, whose tantrums are legendary, has maintained his calm during training camp and the exhibition season.

“Every now and then he [explodes], but usually it’s for a good reason,” swingman Eric Piatkowski said. “He’s been pretty good so far. I haven’t seen him really blow up yet. He’s kept his cool, which has been impressive.

“I think the most important thing is everybody has been working real hard. People came in in much better shape than they have in the past, so there’s not a whole lot of reason for him to get mad about anything.”

Although the Clippers have lost four of their first exhibitions, Fitch isn’t concerned.

“What where we in the exhibition season [2-6] last year?” Fitch said. “I don’t think anyone remembers what your exhibition record is.

“I like to look at different combinations in the preseason.”
