Irvine Women Win First Conference Match
UC Irvine picked up its first Big West Conference victory in women’s volleyball this season by beating North Texas, 15-10, 15-10, 15-11, in Denton, Texas.
The Anteaters (6-15, 1-8) were led by Marcia Bradbeer, who had 15 kills. Anteaters’ setter Teri Zartman contributed 28 assists in the victory over North Texas (5-19, 0-9).
Jessica Folmar led North Texas with 15 kills.
In women’s tennis:
Cal State Fullerton Intercollegiates (first round)--Debbie Vonusa, Helen Jasin, Eleanor Luzano and Poornima Swarninathan of Cal State Fullerton advanced to the second round of the championships.
UC Irvine’s Nickole Cabe won her singles match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, over UC Santa Barbara’s Jill Katzenberger.
