Staley’s Three-Point Shot for Rage Stops the Reign

Dawn Staley’s three-point jumper with 36 seconds remaining helped the Philadelphia Rage withstand the Seattle Reign’s late rally for an 87-82 American Basketball League victory Saturday before 2,838 at Philadelphia.
Philadelphia (3-0) led, 66-51, with 50 seconds left in the third quarter after a jumper by Staley, who scored 22 points.
Seattle (1-5) then mounted a comeback, led by Kate Starbird, and at one point went on a 10-0 run.
Starbird, who scored a team-high 21 points for the Reign, made a three-point shot with 56 seconds left to tie the score at 80, setting the stage for Staley’s game-winner.
Shalonda Enis and Val Whiting each scored 19 points for Seattle.
