Northern Arizona Outlasts Montana

Mike Goldstein kicked a 39-yard field goal with 33 seconds remaining to give Northern Arizona a 27-24 win over Montana in a Big Sky Conference game Saturday night in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Travis Brown threw for 366 yards and three touchdowns for the Lumberjacks as they beat the Grizzlies for the first time in 10 years.

Goldstein had missed on two earlier field goal attempts in the fourth quarter, with a 42-yarder going wide right and a 25-yarder blocked.

Brian Ah Yat passed for 341 yards and three touchdowns but was sacked four times as Montana was held to 15 net rushing yards on 22 carries.

Northern Arizona trailed 17-10 at halftime before Brown took over.

Portland St 44, Montana St 0--Running back Charles Dunn, formerly of Pasadena Muir, ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns to lead Portland State to a win over Montana State in a Big Sky Conference game in Portland, Ore.

Portland State forced seven Montana State turnovers for its third win in the last four games after opening the season with four consecutive losses.

Montana State dropped out of second place in the Big Sky with the loss.

Portland State dominated the game from start to finish. The Vikings led 17-0 at halftime as they held Montana State to only 75 in the half.

In the second half, Portland State blew the game open as it took advantage of five Montana State turnovers.

Despite injuries early in the first quarter to starting quarterback Preston Parsons and starting wide receiver Orshawante Bryant, Portland State’s offense outgained the Bobcats 446 yards to 125.

E. Washington 51, Idaho St. 7--Rex Prescott opened the game with an 85-yard touchdown run to help lead the Eastern Washington Eagles past Idaho State in Cheney, Wash.

Prescott scored twice and finished the game with 171 yards on 14 carries.

Harry Leons threw for 230 yards, completing 15 of 21 passes and two touchdowns. He connected with Jeff Ogden for 147 yards and one 77-yard touchdown.

Josh Atwood kicked three field goals. His longest was a 34-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Idaho State’s only score came with 10:04 left in the fourth quarter when Kaili McCray picked up a Griffin Garske fumble and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown.

The Eagles had 555 yards of total offense, compared with 183 for Idaho State.
