UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO VOLLEYBALL

* County connections: There are five local players on the Toreros. Katie Lindquist is from Ocean View, Lisa Ravensberg is from Laguna Beach, Maria Bowden is from Los Alamitos, Kristi Pearson is from Orange Lutheran and Paige Spaulding is from San Clemente.

* Worth noting: USD (18-2) has won 17 matches in a row, having swept University of San Francisco in three games last Saturday. Lindquist is among the leaders in the West Coast Conference in assists.

SAN JOSE STATE VOLLEYBALL

* County connection: Michelle Sarkees of Santa Margarita.

* Worth noting: Sarkees has played in all 21 of the team’s matches this season, averaging 12.6 assists a match, the fourth best in the Western Athletic Conference. San Jose State is 11-10, 4-5 in conference.

POINT LOMA NAZARENE VOLLEYBALL

* County connection: Darci Hess of Valley Christian.

* Worth noting: Hess became Point Loma’s all-time leader in digs last week in a victory over Southern California College. Her 12 digs in the match gave her 1,437, surpassing the 1,430 by Debbie Litten (1990-93).

UPDATE

* UCLA water polo: Sam Grayeli of Costa Mesa scored three goals Sunday in the Bruins’ 10-3 victory over Pacific. UCLA is 10-7 overall, 3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference.
