Duane E. Paschal; Lifelong County Resident
Duane Elliott Paschal, a lifelong county resident, died Saturday of heart failure. He was 66.
Paschal was born in Ventura on Dec. 6, 1930. He attended Sheridan Way Grammar School, Cabrillo Junior High School and Ventura High School. He began classes at Ventura College, then joined the U.S. Army in 1948. After his discharge in 1951, he returned to Ventura and married his fiancee, Lodema.
Paschal worked for 28 years as a land surveyor. His employers included the Kasler Corp. and Granite Construction Co. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 12.
Paschal enjoyed caring for his rose garden, solving crossword puzzles and bowling. He was a member of the Ventura Sea Scouts and was a Little League coach.
In addition to his wife, Paschal is survived by his son, Louis Paschal, sister Edrie Gerhardt and brother Wayne Paschal, all of Ventura, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private family service has been held. Memorial donations may be made to the Ventura County Chapter of the American Heart Assn., 1367 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, 93010.
Arrangements are under the care of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
