Man Killed in Crash of Stolen Car
SUN VALLEY — An 18-year-old man died Saturday when he lost control of the stolen car he was driving, causing the vehicle to jump a curb and strike a power pole, police said.
The man suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer J. Sugar of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division. His identity was being withheld late Saturday pending notification of family members.
The man was driving a stolen 1982 Nissan 280 Z at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred about 3 a.m., Sugar said. The man was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident remained under investigation.
