Running backs Justin Fargas of Notre Dame High and Miguel Fletcher of Alemany can’t seem to shake one another. They will meet in a season opener Thursday at Notre Dame. Last spring, Fargas beat Fletcher by 0.01 of a second for the state 100-meter title. Now both could end up playing for USC. Fletcher recently committed to the Trojans. Fargas, rated the top running back in the nation by SuperPrep magazine, has narrowed his choices to USC, Michigan and UCLA.

Stage Kids Fargas and Agoura quarterback Ryan McCann (above), a strong-armed left-hander, were among 11 California seniors named to Reebok’s preseason All- American team. That’s not their only connection. Both players’ fathers are actors. Antonio Fargas played Huggy Bear in the ‘70s series “Starsky and Hutch,” and John McCann appeared in “Noah’s Place.”

Brawn and Brains North Hollywood senior Jonathan Hicks is a complete package. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound lineman has twice been selected All-City Section, and he’s no slouch in the classroom with a 3.5 grade-point average and 1,100 score on the Scholastic Assessment Test.
