Careers Class Planned at Citizens Academy

Share

Encouraged by response to its citizens academy, the Police Department will conduct a special class next year for young adults considering a career in law enforcement.

Lt. Alan Kent, who heads Costa Mesa’s citizens academy, said that although the course is designed for people interested in a law enforcement career, anyone aged 17 to 25 may sign up for the 12-week course.

Kent said the citizens academy has been so popular that the department is designing courses for specific segments of the population.

Last year, it conducted its first citizens academy for Spanish speakers.

Regular citizens academy courses are designed to inform residents about the policies and procedures of law enforcement.
