Destocki Leaves Bullfrogs for Fort Worth Job

General Manager Bob Destocki has left the Bullfrogs to become the director of sales and marketing for the new Fort Worth Brahmas of the Western Professional Hockey League.

Destocki, 56, replaced Bob Elder last spring and was widely credited with making many decisions that led the Bullfrogs to their second Roller Hockey International championship, despite some rough economic times and a big drop in announced attendance.

Joe Reid has resigned as boys’ basketball coach and Jeff Cecil has resigned as baseball coach at Mission Viejo High, Athletic Director Steve Carnes said.

Reid, who guided the Diablos to a 64-46 record in four seasons, will be replaced on an interim basis by his assistant of five seasons, Jeff Cunningham. Cunningham, who graduated from Tustin High and played at UC Irvine, was an assistant coach at Irvine for five years and the head coach at University from 1980-83.

Cecil, who left for a teaching position at Laguna Hills High, will be replaced by last year’s assistant coach, Chris Ashbach, who played this past season for the Mission Viejo Vigilantes and had been an assistant baseball coach at Capistrano Valley for five seasons before coming to Mission Viejo.

Robert Alessi has resigned after a season as softball coach at Esperanza, Aztec Athletic Director Diane Genduso said. The Aztecs were 12-11 last year.
