Private Dancers Will Need Permits
Models, exotic dancers and strippers within the next several months will need to buy permits before they can entertain at private parties here.
The City Council unanimously passed an ordinance aimed at these private entertainers Monday, but only after being assured that groups such as the Lions Club will not be affected.
The “out-call” dancers are not banned, but they will need to give background information to the Police Department and pay $300 for a permit that will be valid for one year.
Police Chief Richard M. Tefank said he proposed the law because the use of “out-call” dancers and models is proliferating around the county.
His department has dealt with assaults and even a murder that occurred during one of the private parties, he said.
Women who appear at charitable and fund-raising events open to the general public will not have to obtain permits, Tefank added.
The law expressly excludes models and dancers hired by art schools.
