A mirror made with bottle caps. A Chinese folding screen decorated with spoons of all shapes and sizes. A chandelier that was formerly a colander.

These furnishings are part of an unusual art show, “Use Me: Functional Art From the Salvaged,” that consists of furniture made from recycled elements.

The show opened Thursday at the Angels Gate Cultural Center, Building A, at 3601 S. Gaffey St., and features the works of 15 artists.

Furnishings are made from a diverse mix of materials including an old piano, a jet engine, porcelain bathroom fixtures, concrete and plastic.

The art collection is curated by Lois Lambert, director of Functional Art at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica.

The art show is free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be on display through the end of October.
