Walk to Aid Marrow Donor Program

Share

A fund-raising 5K/10K walk will be held Oct. 12 at the Thousand Oaks United Methodist Church to raise $4,500 for the National Marrow Donor Program.

The “Walk in the Sun” is named for Thousand Oaks High School senior Valerie Sun, who has aplastic anemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. If reached, the $4,500 goal will be matched by the National Marrow Donor Program and thus allow 200 potential bone marrow donors to be tested.

Registration for the event will take place Oct. 12 at the church, beginning at noon. Registration is $15 general and $10 for children 11 and under. The walk will begin at 1 p.m.
