The Wat Thai Temple will host its annual Songkran Festival next weekend to celebrate the Thai traditional New Year.

The two-day festival, featuring religious activities, entertainment, a beauty contest and numerous Thai food and merchandise booths, will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the temple, 8225 Coldwater Canyon Ave.

The traditional Thai New Year of Songkran is observed by offering food to the monks, listening to sermons and bathing the statue of Buddha.
