The city of Los Angeles Department of Animal Services needs volunteers to assist in matching homeless pets with compatible owners. Volunteers are also needed to promote pet adoption and educate the public on responsible pet ownership. A training session will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. April 26 at the East Valley Animal Service Center, 13131 Sherman Way, North Hollywood. Volunteers 14 and older are needed Saturday to help the Reseda Chamber of Commerce and Reseda Renaissance Ladies, a volunteer group that has taken part in Reseda cleanup projects and plant trees along the center divider on Sherman Way, between Lindley and Wilbur avenues. The tree planting will begin at 8 a.m. in front of Vons market, 18135 Sherman Way, near Lindley Avenue. For more information, call the chamber at (818) 345-1920.

The Center for Individual and Family Counseling, 5445 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood, is looking for volunteers to answer phones, greet clients at the reception window, set appointments, run errands and handle light clerical duties. For more information, call the center at (818) 761-2227.

Burbank’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking volunteers 55 and older to become involved in a citizens patrol program. Volunteers are required to donate 10 hours a week to the program and must attend a 30-hour training academy. Duties include vacation house checks, parking enforcement and Neighborhood Watch.
