Report: New Fenway Being Planned

The Boston Red Sox reportedly are close to announcing plans to build a new Fenway Park next door to their current home.

Citing unidentified sources, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday that the new Fenway Park will combine elements of the fabled but aging stadium in a more spacious modernized facility. The story did not reveal the cost of any proposed stadium. Red Sox officials authorized to discuss the stadium situation were not immediately available for comment.

The Globe reported that the new stadium will be built on roughly 15 acres near the current park and might retain some of the present field dimensions. It might resemble Fenway Park, including a version of the famed left-field wall known as the “Green Monster.”
