Laker Could Get Call From Triple-A
Tim Laker (Simi Valley High, Oxnard College) has hit four home runs for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ triple-A affiliate in Durham, N.C.
Invited to spring training as a nonroster player, Laker, 29, has battled back from injuries and is trying to earn a promotion back to the big leagues.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound catcher has played professionally for 11 years, including three seasons as a backup with the Montreal Expos. He finished last season with the Baltimore Orioles and has a .209 lifetime major league average in 287 at-bats.
