710 Extension

Re “U.S. Formally OKs Extension of 710 Freeway,” April 14:

It is indeed astounding that there are billions of dollars available for the destruction of 900 homes and 6,000 trees, not counting the disruption of untold lives and neighborhoods, to construct the missing link for the 710 Freeway connection to I-210, which would be occupied by thousand upon thousands of exhaust-belching vehicles polluting the area.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, a few million bucks are not available to complete the MTA Blue Line from Pasadena to Union Station, which would not produce any harmful emissions and which would not require wanton destruction of homes and trees, which are important for the preservation of our ecological balance. The right of way is already emplaced and will not occupy a strip of land 10 lanes wide.
