Linguist to Make Keynote at Cal State
William Labov, called the father of sociolinguistics, will be the keynote speaker at the seventh annual Symposium on Language Varieties at Cal State Fullerton on Friday.
Labov, a linguist and professor at the University of Pennsylvania, will talk about dialect diversity. He will focus on African American English, university officials said.
The free event, open to the public, will be held on campus, 800 N. State College Blvd., in the Titan Student Union from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
