Fullerton Ends Cypress Streak at 17

Fullerton scored four runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Cypress, 6-3, and stop the Chargers’ 17-game winning streak in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday at Cypress.

With two outs and the score tied, 3-3, Rachel Bashore hit a bases-loaded triple to provide the winning margin for the Hornets (23-15, 12-6 in league). Marisa Ornelas and Nikia Owens each had three hits for Fullerton.

Gillian Tantardini and Sandra Mulder each had two hits for Cypress (43-4, 16-2), which still clinched a share of the conference title because of Saddleback’s loss.

Golden West 8, Saddleback 4--Melanie Heinle hit a bases-loaded triple to highlight a six-run seventh for visiting Golden West (20-11, 11-7). Saddleback is 24-9, 13-5.
