Senior Legislature Election Set May 5

Registered voters 60 and older can vote May 5 for three candidates for the 1998-2000 session of the California Senior Legislature.

Fourteen poll sites will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout Ventura County.

The three candidates vying for the senior senator seat are Larry A. Curtis, Muriel Steiger and Robert Warnagieris, all of Ventura.

Candidates running for the two Senior Assembly seats include Jesse Dunlap and Percy Silver of Camarillo; Charles Sallia of Thousand Oaks, Thomas Stafford of Oak View and Frederick Zielsdorf of Ventura.

The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging is conducting the election, with cooperation from participating cities.

The California Senior Legislature is a nonpartisan grass-roots entity patterned after the state Legislature, with 40 senators and 80 Assembly members. The legislators draft proposals and hold floor debates in the state Capitol during an annual October session.

Fillmore: 533 Santa Clara St.

Moorpark: 799 Moorpark Ave.

Ojai: 111 W. Santa Ana St.

Oxnard: 350 North C St.; 126-B Amelia Court.

Port Hueneme: 550 Park Ave.

Santa Paula: 530 W. Main St.

Simi Valley: 3900 Avenida Simi.

Thousand Oaks: 1385 E. Janss Road.

Ventura: 420 E. Santa Clara St.; 550 N. Ventura Ave.; 4900 Telegraph Road.
