Wolf Promoted After Handling Eastern League
Randy Wolf (El Camino Real High, Pepperdine) dominated the double-A Eastern League so well he was promoted Wednesday to Scranton, Pa., of the triple-A International League.
In his last start for Reading, Pa., on Tuesday, he allowed two hits and struck out 13 in eight scoreless innings in a 3-1 victory over Norwich.
Wolf, who walked none, had a 2-0 record and a 1.44 earned-run average for Reading, the double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Wolf, 21, was 4-0 with Batavia of the Class-A New York-Penn League last season, and is unbeaten as a professional. He was a second-round draft pick of the Phillies after earning All-American honors at Pepperdine, but did not sign until late in the summer.
