O.C. Man Dies Under Van in His Driveway
A 47-year-old man was killed Saturday when the van that he was trying to repair rolled forward and crushed him, an Orange County sheriff’s spokesman said.
Edward L. Pyle, 47, was working underneath his 1976 Dodge van about 7:30 p.m. when the accident occurred in the driveway of his home in an unincorporated county area near Anaheim, the spokesman said. The van had a bad transmission and would not shift out of first gear.
Pyle did not have the van on blocks or have the emergency brakes on.
