High-Speed Chase Ends With Arrest
An Oxnard man was taken into custody Friday after allegedly leading authorities on a high-speed chase in a stolen car and a pursuit on foot.
Rene Rios, was driving a Nissan Altima when police officers saw him speeding along Pacific Avenue, Oxnard Officer James Crilly said. The officers, who were driving an unmarked police car, flashed their lights in an effort to pull Rios over.
Rios sped away and ran several red lights, Crilly said. The car pursuit ended on Bismark Way, where Rios allegedly jumped out and fled on foot.
Rios was later captured by a police canine unit in the driveway of an apartment complex, Crilly said. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail, where he was being held on suspicion of auto theft, possessing marijuana, evading arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
