Anthony Quits Team at Kentucky
Kentucky forward Myron Anthony, suspended at the start of the season for his role in a hit-and-run accident and kept mostly on the bench since his return, has left the team.
Coach Tubby Smith announced the sophomore’s departure Friday, three days after Anthony did not play in the No. 8 Wildcats’ 63-45 victory over Kansas at the Great Eight in Chicago.
“That’s his decision and we wish him the best,” Smith said, adding that he urged Anthony to stay with the team. “For him, this is what he thinks is the best.”
Smith said he would release Anthony from his scholarship. Teammates said they expect Anthony to transfer.
