PEPPERDINE (5-2) AT WISCONSIN (8-1), KLTX (1390), 1:30 p.m.--Since winning their first five games, the Waves have lost two in a row, most recently to Kansas in the Wooden Classic. Senior Jelani Gardner leads Pepperdine with 14 points and six assists a game. Wisconsin is coming off a 63-56 upset of No. 14 Temple on Wednesday. Sean Mason led the Badgers with 14 points, including four three-point baskets. Wisconsin is off to its best start under Coach Dick Bennett, who took over four seasons ago.

PACIFIC (4-1) at LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (3-4), KXLU-FM (88.9), 5 p.m.--The Lions are coming off a 79-43 loss to USC on Wednesday but have won two of their last three home games. Forward Elton Mashack led Loyola with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds against the Trojans. Guard Haywood Eaddy, the Lions’ top scorer from last season, has sat out four of the last five games because of an ankle injury and is questionable for tonight’s game. Pacific won its first four games but suffered a 91-74 loss to Fresno State on Monday. Senior Jason Williams leads the Tigers, averaging 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds.

KANSAS STATE (7-2) at LONG BEACH STATE (3-5), 7 p.m.--The 49ers have lost two in a row and shot only 33% in an 80-52 loss to Southwest Missouri State on Wednesday at Springfield, Mo. Sophomore guard Ramel Lloyd has been the top scorer for Long Beach, averaging almost 16 points. Center Mate Milisa will not play for the 49ers because of an ankle injury, but swingman Antrone Lee is expected to play despite missing part of Wednesday’s game because of an ankle injury. Coach Wayne Morgan announced Friday that senior guard Tommie Davis left the team because of extreme family hardship. Kansas State has won three in a row and is coming off a 64-47 victory over Wichita State on Tuesday. The Wildcats are led by forward Josh Reid, their top returning scorer, and junior college transfer Tony Kitt, the team’s current top scorer.
