Times’ NFL writer T.J. Simers poses--and answers--the burning questions on. . . : Game Day
1. Question: OK, smarty, what team does Jamie Martin play for? Who plays if Jamie Martin gets hurt today?
Answer: The Jaguars. He starts for the injured Mark Brunell, and if Martin goes down, Jonathan Quinn plays quarterback. Quinn’s a third-round pick from Middle Tennessee State still waiting to take his first snap in the pros.

2. Q: How did the 49ers do without injured defensive tackle Bryant Young?
A: As you expected: terrible. They allowed Carolina, the NFL’s 29th-ranked rushing team, to run for 203 yards.
*
3. Q: So what’s Barry Sanders going to go for Monday night?
A: History says not much. Sanders has played the 49ers five times, averaged 84.8 yards a game and scored two touchdowns. He has lost four times to San Francisco, gaining 24 yards in 17 carries in his only win over the 49ers.
*
4. Q: Which are the top three teams in the NFC the last six weeks?
A: Atlanta (6-0) and Minnesota (5-1), of course, but how about those Redskins (4-2).
*
5. Q: Who’s the second-best wide receiver in the game today behind Randy Moss?
A: Eric Moulds. Plays for Buffalo. Moss has caught bombs for 1,120 yards and this guy has only 13 fewer yards. Moulds has 15 receptions for 25 yards or more; Moss has 16.
