Arceo Helps Chaminade Shoot Down Antelopes

Ryan Arceo made four three-pointers for Chaminade High in a 60-45 first-round victory over Antelope Valley on Tuesday night in the Valencia tournament.

Arceo finished with 14 points for the Eagles (5-0), and 6-11 center J.J. Todd had eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Scott Borchart had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Chaminade, which is ranked second in The Times’ regional poll.

St. Francis 62, Blair 49--Shaun Scranton had 16 points and 12 rebounds to help the Golden Knights win in La Canada-St. Francis tournament pool play at St. Francis.

Derek Lavelle had 10 points, four blocked shots and seven rebounds for St. Francis (4-1), which built a 42-21 lead capped by an 8-0 run with two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Justin Duffus had 11 points, five rebounds and three of the Golden Knights’ 12 steals.

Quartz Hill 69, Notre Dame 58--Jason Tomlin and Brady Chelette each scored 17 points for the Rebels in a first-round victory at the Valencia tournament.

Chelette had three assists, three steals and four rebounds, and Tomlin had four assists.

Cody Pearson scored 22 points for Notre Dame.

Quartz Hill will face Eisenhower, which defeated Royal in another first round game.

Crescenta Valley 57, Reseda 46--Kean Mallory scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half, and the Falcons built an 11-point lead after two quarters and coasted to a pool-play victory at the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Freshman Chris Tarne had 10 points and eight assists, and sophomore James Jenkins had 18 rebounds for the Falcons (4-2).

Brentwood 56, Village Christian 49--Clint Hamblin had 17 points, including five three-pointers, for the Crusaders in a nonleague defeat at Village Christian.

Aaron Maxwell had nine points and 13 rebounds for Village Christian (2-2).

Aquinas 83, Antelope Valley Christian 81--Mike Rossi’s basket with 12 seconds to play gave the Falcons a nonleague victory at Aquinas.

Peter Bowden had 26 points for Antelope Valley Christian (4-2). Matthew Nurse had 25 points and Jamal Flanagan scored 23.

Stoneridge Prep 72, Westview 53--Sophomore guard Sammy Delrahim, who is averaging 32 points, collected 37 points, six assists and six steals for the Tigers (1-2) in a nonleague victory at Westview (0-5).

Nordhoff 61, Carpinteria 41--Etienne Emanuel had 11 points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Rangers (7-1) in a nonleague victory at Nordhoff.

Viewpoint 59, Oakwood 41--Dan Roy scored 22 points for the Patriots (5-5) in a Liberty League opener at Oakwood.
