Santa Clara’s Home Streak Ends at 23
Becky Hammon made a layup with 13 seconds left to give No. 9 Colorado State a 66-65 victory over No. 25 Santa Clara on Friday night at Santa Clara.
Hammon led all scorers with 20 points, Katie Cronin scored 17 and Roxanne Manning had 13 for the Rams (11-0).
Brook Staebell scored a season-high 16 points to lead Santa Clara, whose 23-game home winning streak ended. Annie Garrison and Katie Pursley each had 12 for the Broncos.
Santa Clara (8-1) took a 65-64 lead with 33 seconds left when Garrison made a jump shot and Staebell made one of two free throws.
The Broncos missed a free throw with 26 seconds left to set up Hammon’s winning shot.
