Knight Is Finally Able to Practice
Billy Knight did not play Saturday against Cal State Northridge, but his return to practice this week after a lengthy absence indicates his bothersome groin injury is finally improving.
Knight, a reserve swingman, has yet to play this season because of the problem that has plagued him since summer and recently restricted him to stretching and lifting for three weeks.
That ended Tuesday, when he joined practice again.
“It seemed like a long time,” he said.
It could have been even longer.
Knight, known for his outside shooting, was concerned that the injury might cost him the season.
Coach Steve Lavin said he will let Knight decide whether to redshirt.
“I’ll see how I play,” Knight said. “I’ll see if I have what it takes to be able to run with the players at this level.
“But now I think I’m finally healed. I’ve been running up and down the court and dunking. It feels good.”
