Lonnie Baxter set a school record by making all 10 of his shots and scored 28 points Wednesday night as fifth-ranked Maryland registered the most lopsided victory in school history, 132-57 over winless North Texas.

Laron Profit scored 16 of his season-high 24 points in the first half and Steve Francis added 17 for the Terrapins (12-1), who had absolutely no trouble in their 63rd consecutive nonconference home victory since December 1989.

Baxter, a freshman forward, also made all eight of his free throws. His perfect night from the field bettered the record held previously by Gary Williams, now Maryland’s coach, and senior center Obinna Ekezie, who had both gone eight for eight.

The 75-point margin of victory surpassed the 67-point blowout of Western Carolina this season, and the 132 points was the second-highest output in Maryland history.

Sam Funches scored 16 points for North Texas (0-9) and Joe Irvin had 12, all but three in the opening five minutes. The Mean Green made 10 of 45 three-point shots and made 30% overall.

The Terrapins led 11-9 before Profit made a three-point shot and Francis and Terence Morris followed with dunks to spark a 21-6 run that put Maryland ahead by 17 points.

After Charles Washington made a three-point shot for North Texas to make the score 35-18, the Mean Green went more than eight minutes without a basket before Dominic Hardie’s layup made the score 67-23 at halftime.

Baxter scored eight consecutive points during Maryland’s 32-5 run and Profit had two dunks and a layup.

The second half was more of the same, as the Terrapins scored the first 10 points to go up 77-23.
