What: 1998 World Series Video

Price: $19.95 (60 minutes)

The accomplishments of the 1998 New York Yankees are so tremendous, it’s difficult for a video to do them all justice.

But what this video does is take highlights of the postseason and put them together to show the way the Yankees won 125 games.

For every Yankee home run, it seems there are four base hits, two outstanding defensive plays and a stolen base.

And it isn’t only baseball in the video. It also covers some of the stories that made the Yankees not only 1998’s best team, but its most interesting:

* Orlando Hernandez, whose journey from Cuba landed him on the mound of Yankee Stadium in Game 2 of the World Series against San Diego.

* Darryl Strawberry, one of the Yankees’ biggest power sources, who was found to have cancer as the playoffs began and became an inspiration and rallying point.

* Chuck Knoblauch, a first-year Yankee who went from one of the least popular men in New York after costing his team a game in the American League championship series to one of the city’s most adored with a tying home run in Game 1 against the Padres.

The video also takes a brief look at the Padres, who gave the Yankees a fight but were no match for one of the most dominant teams in baseball history.

But this video seemed a bit like the Padres in how to handle the Yankees--overwhelmed.

While entertaining, it didn’t capture just how good the Yankees were. A better idea would have been to feature the Yankees’ season, rather than focusing so much on plays in the World Series.

But the video is still one a baseball fan will want to check out.
