Norther Arizona 86, Cal State Northridge 85--Rod Hutchings hit two three-pointers in overtime, and Andrew Mavis added another as Northern Arizona held off the Matadors at Flagstaff, Ariz.

Northridge (7-11, 3-5 in the Big Sky Conference) tied the score, 85-85, on a jump shot by Trenton Cross with 1:20 left, but Ross Land made a free throw and intentionally missed another to seal the victory.

The Lumberjacks (12-6, 6-2), led by Mavis with 24 points on nine-of-14 shooting, won their 12th straight Big Sky game at home.

Cross had 18 points and Mike O’Quinn 17 for the Matadors, who scored 47 points in the second half to tie it, 74-74, in regulation, then took a 79-74 lead in the extra period.

St. Mary’s 99, Loyola Marymount 81--David Sivulich scored a season-high 29 points and Eric Schraeder had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Gaels (9-11, 4-4 in the West Coast Conference) at Gersten Pavilion.

Haywood Eaddy led Loyola (6-14, 2-6) with 25 points, seven rebounds and a career-high seven steals. Peter Cornell added 20 points for the Lions, making all seven of his field-goal attempts. He has made his last 15 shots over two games.

St. Mary’s made a season-high 93.5% of its foul shots (29 of 31).

Pacific 69, Long Beach State 50--It was billed as the Battle of Britons, and it was won by some spitfires.

While Pacific’s Michael Olowokandi and Long Beach State’s Andrew Betts fought in the trenches under the basket, Tiger guard Adam Jacobsen let go from long range, making four of six three-point shots in Pacific’s victory before 3,178 at the Pyramid.

In the matchup between 7-foot-1 Brits, Olowokandi scored 16 points--almost five below his average--and grabbed seven rebounds. Betts led Long Beach (8-12, 3-5 in the Big West) with 15 points and four rebounds.

Pacific (13-8, 6-2) made 13 of 24 three-point baskets, and outrebounded Long Beach, 43-29, including 18-9 on the offensive end.
