Fullerton Beats L.A. Valley

Fullerton starter Bobby Cramer gave up two hits over five innings as the Hornets defeated host Los Angeles Valley, 8-4, Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game.

Brandon Carter led Fullerton with three runs batted in, including a two-run homer in the eighth inning.

David McLean retired the final four hitters to earn the save for the Hornets (4-3-1).

Palomar 7, Golden West 5--Palomar scored four times in the top of the first and added three runs in the fourth inning as the visiting Comets (1-1) held off the Rustlers (5-1).

Four hits and a walk in the top of the first against Kevin Stuart resulted in a 4-0 Comet lead.

The Rustlers came back in the bottom of the first with three runs. Trailing 7-3, Golden West scored once in the fifth and eighth.

Saddleback 9, San Diego City 4--Nick Punto had three hits and two RBIs in a victory for host Saddleback. Teammate Kirk Bolling had three hits. Saddleback is 4-1.

In nonconference women’s tennis:

Orange Coast 6, Palomar 3--The Pirates’ Martha Garcia and Denise Piorel swept in singles and doubles. Melissa Walker and Camella Jaeger did the same for OCC (1-0-1). Palomar’s Melissa Jennings defeated Lisa Cahn, 6-3, 6-3.

Saddleback 8, Long Beach City 1--Amber Howard swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Orange Coast games rained out--Orange Coast could not play scheduled baseball and softball games Tuesday because of wet grounds at Mt. San Antonio College (baseball) and Moorpark College (softball). Makeup dates have not been announced.
